No way Iam gonna buy Wii even in this case... Stupid decision to make this one Wii xclusive-_-

Posted by zombiebrian on May 25, 2009 at 9:54 a.m. #12

Hey, glad the wii is getting a fighting game. im sure if demand is high enough it will get a psn/360 port eventually even quicker if it flops on the wii which it might.... cant see my mum buying it.... Nah the wii's fun i just dont think it has the market for this!

Posted by math on May 26, 2009 at 7:25 a.m. #13

The Wii has 50 million owners and the PS3 and 360 COMBINED have about 52 or 53 mil. How will the game not be successful on it? Buy a Wii or play at a friend's house, quit whining like a child.

The game rocks, casuals and hardcore players should enjoy it a lot. Best way to describe it is MVC2 lite, not a diss to the game at all, just the best comparison I can think of. It's really simple and fun. If you have any fighting game knowledge you will pick this up and be at least decent in 20 minutes.

Posted by zombiebrian on May 27, 2009 at 3:07 a.m. #14

The question is is how many of the 50m are street fighter fans and how many are moms playing wii fit? How many got it for xmas and never used it.... and of the gamers how many will buy street fighter im willing to put money on this not doing well

Posted by GSOM Asian x on May 27, 2009 at 6:39 a.m. #15

Yeah, really. Barely anybody is going to buy this game. If it came out for the Xbox 360 or PS3 it would be a hit.

Posted by buying it on May 27, 2009 at 12:15 p.m. #16

=D

Posted by jleadership on May 28, 2009 at 4:20 p.m. #17

@Zombiebrian

You hit the nail on the nose. How many wii owners out there are street fighter fans. Lets be honest, the most this will do for the wii is boost sales,but everyone who has one doesn't own it for the same reasons that people have a ps3 or 360, therefore, it's stupid for capcom to make it wii exclusive when wii market is geared towards casual gamers.

We saw what happens when you release hardcore games on a casual system. You gat GTA China Town wars and what happed to that. The proof is in the pudding...

Posted by Gief_Mobile on May 28, 2009 at 4:26 p.m. #18

If you were part of Capcom's marketing, would you announce the game would be released on all three systems, or make it an exclusive title on the Wii first, try and get as many sales as possible there and then put it out on the PS3/XBox 360 later?

Assuming the sales are good, if I was their marketing department I'd release it on the Wii first, make it sound like it's an exclusive and if it does well, release it on the other systems.

I heard the game only sold OK in Japan, so making it for the 360/PS3 is probably a lot riskier than just doing an American port. If the sales are there, Capcom is going to put this out there on the other systems. They want to make money.

Posted by they call me the bob on May 29, 2009 at 3:45 p.m. #19

@ jleadership:

1. calling the Wii a "casual system" is not completely fair. it's got many hardcore games, both downloadable and on discs (Madworld and No More Heroes to name a few.).

2. the DS is not the Wii. not at all.

3. tell me, how many Street Fighter games are there on the Wii that makes you so sure that it won't sell? to my knowledge, Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting on Virtual Console sold really well.

4. not only hardcore gamers play fighting games.

and to everybody:

making a big game Wii exclusive is not a bad idea at all. the Wii doesn't have as many hardcore exclusives as the rest of the consoles and people who only own a Wii unfortunately miss out on a lot. since the TvC arcades are pretty much identical to Wii hardware it only makes sense to port TvC to the Wii for several reasons, the biggest would be that they would have to update so freaking much from the arcade version (especially the graphics) that in the end it wouldn't be worth the trouble of doing so instead of porting it to the closest system.

you can pick up a Wii really cheap these days as well.

Posted by SurfKahuna on May 30, 2009 at 1:42 p.m. #20

Everyone here knows that the arcade version is basically based on Wii hardware, right (http://arcadeheroes.com/2008/09/27/ta... This is why the Wii version was so easy to complete. Besides, Gief/Mobile has it right on the money. They already released a Jap version anyway, it makes much more fiscal sense to release overseas to test the waters.

Posted by Jordan on June 10, 2009 at 7:15 a.m. #21

@they call me the bob

Mad World and No More Heroes are two of the ONLY core games you're gonna find on the wii. You can count all of them on two hands, maybe even one if you're being picky. And lets be honest here, while both those games you used as examples are fun in short bursts, they weren't system sellers by any stretch of the imagination. Besides the boss stages, No More Heroes was boring as hell. WAY too much grinding for an action game. And while Madworld was fun, it was way too short. 5-6 hours for a full priced retail game? I'd rather save that money for something that'll last a bit longer. Sure you can say the wii HAS some core games, but the fact of the matter is that they just dont sell, and TVC is destined for that same fate.
As for SF2HF being on VC, PS3/360 has HDR which is by far a superior version.

Dig it

Wii = Softcore Gamers
X360 = Core Gamers
Ps3 = Hardcore Gamers

i own all three and enjoy them all, but if i were to toss them in categories i would do as above. Like most people i'm not totally one type of gamer i'm a little of both probably leaning the most to hardcore. But none of that really matters we should all just be happy we have three awesome systems this time around and not three Atari Jaguars seriously.......

I'm really starting to think that you should have to own the system to be able to talk sh!t about it. I mean i have my complaints with all three systems, is it enough to say one of em sucks, no. Do i like one more then the other two why yes i do but thats my personal preference, do i play one more then the other two yeah but that depends on what new games have come out, i mean come on guys your hitting on apples and oranges make real comparisons like the ds vs the dsi? Which is better thats something you could actually compare. You can't compare a console to another console based upon how fun the games are, this is because fun is a perspective. For example most people LOVE halo, i happen to hate it, does it mean that game sucks, no it doesn't! it just means i don't like it. In fact it's quite the awesome game because of how well it sells, my hat is off to microsoft for bringing that game out, it is pretty epic with sales. I have played through the first two halos and at this point would rather eat my own sh!t then play the third one. But does that make it a bad game? NO! It just means I DON"T LIKE IT, @jordan you just don't like the wii for whatever reason and thats cool. I have SSF2THD for my PS3 and my Xbox360 it plays awesome on both systems, in fact it plays a little different on both systems which I LOVE, why? it makes it more of a challenge thats why? However there are times where i wanna play the SSF2 that was on the SNES because that version plays different then the arcade version or the ported versions on various consoles but i love the way it plays the best so i like playing it on the wii because it actually feels quite a bit like i'm playing it on my snes which is packed away for safe keepings :D Did i mention i'm a lil hardcore? I know it's lame that everything isn't perfect but really how boring would that be, enjoy the differences in consoles man life is just way too short. :D

Meh,for the Wii I bet it will be bad. But if you get the Fight Stick than maybe it would get good.

Posted by Doc on June 25, 2009 at 8:48 p.m. #31

If your a true gamer get all 3 systems and stop bitching.

But if you must know why it's only for wii, it's cause the game was designed to play on the TriForce Hardware. The TriForce Hardware is the Hardware made by combined efforts of Namco, Sega, and Nintendo to make Arcade to Console conversions as flawless as possible. And the Wii is the only console capable of running the game. It's is simply not hard coded to play on anything but the wii. If they made it for other console they would have to remake the game from scratch basically. Here's some info on that if you don't believe me.

Article-

Hardware-
http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?... --Namco
http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?... --Sega

As for is it worth getting? YES!!! It's fun, good, and there's a lot of good balancing. I don't feel there are any bad characters, even Roll is a beast (that's right "Roll") except maybe the two big robots. My friends and I have been playing this at work and theres no one that doesn't now love it.

Just give the game a shot. It's simply good.

cant wait to get this game!

Posted by Shos on July 2, 2009 at 11:21 p.m. #33

Why all the Wii haters here? Just because you don't like the Wii, doesn't mean that this game won't sell. Actually, comparing SFIV with TvC. I would say that TvC looks more flashy. (Take Ryu's Hadouken. In SFIV, you see a huge spectacle of him up close powering up then he shoots a big ball out. In TvC you see a similar spectacle then he shoots a huge *Kamehameha*) I'm not saying TvC is better, but still, it looks nice.

And why don't you people consider the PC as a hardcore system? I mean, it has most of the same games that the console has. Graphics keep getting better for every monthly PC upgrade (so basically, PC has better gfx than a console). And you can use a controller if you want.

and @ Jordan

What do you mean 5-6 hours of gameplay? That isn't enough? You would rather buy a game like Prince of Persia and spend 20 hours doing the same thing over and over again?

Plus, I don't really understand the concept between hardcore/core/casual games. I mean, doesn't it just depend on the player? Like if you play a game for an hour or so, wouldn't that label you as a casual? If you play a game for several hours, days, weeks, wouldn't that make you hardcore?
The message that I get here from you people is that hardcore games has blood/action involved and how the Wii can't sell hardcore games because "casual" players don't like blood/action.

Look at the game Conduit. Isn't that considered "hardcore" to you? -Blood -Action -Hit game (many sales)

it all depends on who wants the game or not.

And if you buy a 250/200/500 dollar console just to play a single game, then wtf, THERE ARE CHILDREN STARVING IN AFRICA.

It's all your own opinion, personally, I played this game along with many other games for the Wii/PS3/360 and I feel like this one would sell normally.

AND they just announced that the Wii HD/Wii 2 is coming out in 1-2 years so these "hardcore" games will be coming to the Wii too (they say it will have similar graphics to the Xbox 360)

Roll
PTX-40A
Gold Lightan

I wouldn't mind writing the section on Lightan, because I use him a lot.

Yay a wii Exclusive game!!! quite frankly this doesn't bother me... not one bit! This is because i collect systems :D I have ps3 for RPG and Fighting games, 360 for FPS and few RPG, and wii for other games as well So, not to bash on fanboys or other gamers, but don't complain as I played the Japanese version of this game on the wii and a few arcades here in the US! I see no problem with this game at all

Posted by yes! on September 8, 2009 at 6:53 p.m. #44

every system has its exclusives,so just get em all.
now i would like to enlighten people about just how capable the wii is for 2-d fighters.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK!

below are links to different controller attachments for the wii,this system is as good for 2-d fighter as any other,and if a title happens to be exclusive for the wii,please don't rage over it.buying this system is as easy as saving up the money for a couple lattes (periodically) anyway.

you see how it resembles snes here?this is why this controller is awesome.i like playing guilty gear with this controller actually.its a little quicker than a ps2 controller in my opinion.yes i have a ps2,so i do believe i have a valid opinion.im a real fan of guilty gear btw.

http://www.supernes.de/upload/image/s...

hori fighting stick,some will allow you to change the plaque but this one looks pretty official,so i dunno if you can change this one.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.c...

this is a neogeo fighting stick,that being said the wii is definately gonna recieve some neogeo titles.actually i checked the wii shop channel and they already have a couple titles like fatal fury and other early neogeo titles.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-01-49-e...

these aren't concepts people,this is reality!

rejoice!truly wii shall become the system everyone can play.
we've even got conduit for those people that enjoy fps now.and i swear every day i hear about new rpg titles coming to it.

and here is my final image for the wii hori stick,this one has a custom plaque.I'm so excited^o^

@ mclovin

i imagine the computer is as hardcore as a gaming system gets.it literally grabs hold of every game!and you can attach any controller to it so you don't have to worry about the right controllers either,i have a pair of hotrod joysticks,which came with the hana ho capcom game classics.maybe people just hate the fact that these emulators are all free.

not realy sure if the hotrod was a good purchase though.i wanna get proficient at the use of sanwa or hori style fighting sticks,instead of happ style.it maybe better for cresents but i heard its better to use sanwa style in the long run.

PS3 The hardcore system?!?!?! Are you high?

Posted by shannaro!!! on September 18, 2009 at 4:24 p.m. #47

The reason why the Wii has more users than both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 is because a very good portion of the Wii owners play for the "physical health benefits". Nothing wrong with that I don't think.

I also don't see anything wrong that Capcom is exclusively selling the game for the Wii. I think that Capcom will make sequels only for the Wii and keep it that way if the sales are great. I know there will be people who would invest for the game's sake. If Capcom decides to make a sequel for the PS3 and 360 only, wouldn't those people mentioned above be dissapointed?

Posted by halo on September 21, 2009 at 1:47 p.m. #48

I own both a Wii and an XBOX 360. I have Street Fighter IV on the 360 (obviously), i absolutely love it and i would never even consider buying this game on Wii if it was available. Yet somehow i find the prospect of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom on the Wii to be far more intriguing.

Posted by Quake on October 6, 2009 at 2:02 p.m. #49

On PS3. Its good the wii finally got a good fighting game. 360 and PS3 got SFIV.

Posted by ray on October 8, 2009 at 1:25 p.m. #50

how bout, if you have a wii..buy this game. if you don't..buy this game. support and success of this game will lead to a sequel which will more then likely be added to the ps3 and xbox360 library. bottom line is..it was intended to upstage all the other wii titles and set the standard of how fighting games should 'be' on the wii..not sure why, but..who cares. support the game..and we may in the future see a sequel on our 'preferred' consoles. i'm buying it, and i don't even own a wii..
