Special Moves
![]()
• Head Splitter (Kabuto Wari) •
Soki winds up for a strike, and during this time he's invulnerable to most attacks, except throws. Then he quickly strikes forward with his sword. The resulting attack must be blocked high.
Pressing the Medium and Hard buttons at the same time as the initial attack is landing will cause Soki to do another move that launches your opponent up into the air, but if blocked, the following attack is punishable.
The button pressed determines the speed and damage of your Head Splitter.

• Slam (Tetsu Sai Hazaki) •
Soki charges forward leading with his shoulder. This is another move that will absorb a hit, like his Head Splitter, but it doesn't take as long to start up.
Most players seem to prefer the Head Splitter though because there's not much you can do after wards to combo if you land his Slam. It can be handy against projectile users though since you'll gain ground and blow through their fireball.
The button used controls the distance of this move, with Hard traveling the furthest.

• Deflect (Hajiki Issetsu) •
Makes Soki enter a stance and if your opponent hits him high or from midrange he'll counter attack. Quick start up time, but the window where Soki will perform a counter attack isn't that big.
Like his Head Splitter though, you can follow up with Medium + Hard attack buttons when this lands to launch the other fighter up into the air.
Soki's Deflect does not work against low moves, throws, Hyper attacks or non-physical attacks (like Fireballs).

• Sword Plant (Ouichi) •
This command makes Soki stab the ground — or an opponent who's fallen on the ground. Has pretty decent range too.
Hyper Moves
• Sword of Purification (Level 1, Joukaken) •
A good follow up move to use after your Head Splitter. It makes Soki throw his red sword out, which catches fire and spins up in the air. Then it stops, aims at your enemy and attempts to cut them. This last part can hit grounded enemies as well.
Does OK chip (block) damage and is usually safe on block. Good Hyper attack.
• Oni Tactics (Level 1-3, Oni Senjutsu) •
You can charge up this move by holding the attack buttons after you execute it. Soki can be hit while charging this up.
Level 1: A fast slash. This comes out even if you do not charge the move at all. Hit box is pretty good, so it can be used as anti air. If you catch an airborne enemy with it, it acts as a wall bounce, so you can juggle them after wards.
If you press the Medium + Hard attack buttons as this lands, Soki will follow up with his launcher, but this won't combo against fighters hit in the air.
Level 2: Makes Soki slash with his sword. It will stun your opponent, then he'll follow up by slamming his weapon into the ground which shoots electricity out. Nice damage on this, and the recovery is fast too, if you can manage to get it out.
Level 3: Does the same thing as the Level 2 version, except causes MUCH MUCH more damage and it's unblockable. A devastating attack if you can get it out there.

• Onimusha Transformation (Level 3, Oni Kakusei) •
Executing this transforms you into a demon. As soon as you pull it off, your Hyper meter will start to drain. Your Onimusha Transformation lasts the entire time you have meter, but you can still increase your Hyper bar by fighting.
Soki isn't affected by most attacks in Onimusha Transformation, but he can still be thrown, he also will move much faster. You can still use your Sword of Purification Hyper while you're in the Onimusha Transformation as well.
Hitting your enemy will cause Soul Orbs to be released which can be gathered in by pressing the Change Character button (you cannot swap out when you're in this form). Yellow orbs restore life, Blue give you Hyper meter, and Red are for pulling off your Level 3 Hyper move, see below.
(Must be in Onimusha Transformation)
• Demon Blade (Level 3, Oni Nagi) •
You need 7 Red Soul Orbs and to be in Onimusha Transformation to execute this move (see above). The orbs are hard to accumulate. But if you land this, it's nasty.
Takes off a ton of damage, it's easy to combo into and it has a lot of range. Executing this will end your Onimusha Transformation whether you land it or not though.

This will launch your opponent up into the air.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Storyline
Soki, a young warrior equipped with easily identifiable blue armor, is on a mission to destroy the evil Genma. By absorbing souls of the Genma he defeats, he awakens the demon’s power within him and turns into the ultimate Onimusha.
Soki's real name is Hideyasu Yuki, but he was given the nickname of Soki in honor of his wild fighting style, which is similar to the Demon God’s style.
Character origin
Soki (Yuki Hideyasu) is from Capcom's game Onimusha: Dawn Of Dreams on the PlayStation 2. Dawn of Dreams is a 3D action-adventure title that makes use of historical Japanese figures, retelling their stories, but adding various 'enhancements' to the tales.
Soki is the main character from Dawn of Dreams, and he has the ability to transform into a demon (Oni). He is trying to put a stop to Genma minions that are terrorizing Japan. He captures cherry trees that are being sent for the Daigo Blooming Festival and burns them. For this he gains the nickname 'Oni of the Ashes'.
While he uses a variety of weapons, Soki is usually spotted with two powerful broadswords. He is an exceptional swordsman who also possesses magical powers.

If you think those are long, you should not play Zangief

yeah...Soki now my main. He's just Zangief in alot of ways(slow attack movements, difficult Hyper setups)...but he is strong(probably the most powerful non-giant character in the game) and his attack range is huge.
I see why he is Low to Mid tier though...but I love underdog characters...you suprize the hell out of people if you know how to use them.
Need to find a good assist to set up his insane Level 2 Hyper at FULL strength and get his Demon Hyper 3 attacks...those things cut more than half of chracters health off. Using Frank with him(second main) to see what comes out of it.
Just to add to his move set: Forward + Hard Attack. Great poke to keep distance and opponent away.

he was and i think he is still my main, i used to play the japanese version and hopefully they didnt change much of him. He really got good combos and his strikes are quite fast for a defensive character, so punishing your enemy, is going to be your main offensive. once someone does a mistake it is pretty much done. his speacial attacks...are somewhat counter/defensive as they have super armor... with linkable potential to combo... and for his supers...normally i went for the lvl 3 super. But once you learn the trick to evade getting hit by in Oni or demon form, the bar is going to deplete, with time. so the way to counter this bar is just jump block and evade continually. If opponent goes mano a mano he will go into a world of pain.

I've been messing around with Soki/Yatterman - 2 and they seem pretty cool together.
a, b, c, 6c issen, assist, 236super
18k - 20k dmg
add a, b, c, 6c, 22c, bbq in the beginning for an extra 4k dmg
a, b, c, 6c, 236a, assist, c, 623super lvl 1
18k - 19k dmg
I suggest using this in the corner. It can be done midscreen, but the timing for the assist is weird.
It's also possible to change out the "c, 623 super" into
"a, c, 6c," but the timing is really strange and I can't get it consistently.

TRUNKS, I've had the same problem as you. I'm good with Soki, but I can't find a good partner for him that I'm any good with. Right now I'm hoping Ippstsuman works out, but it could be someone else by tomorrow.
