Casshan: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Moves, Combos, Strategy Guide
Last updated on Dec. 13, 2009
Special Moves
• Denkou Punch •
This makes Casshan charge up and punch his enemy. The Light and Medium attacks work well in combos, with the Medium version being favored for the extra damage.
The Hard attack can be charged though by holding the button and if held for a long enough time, it's an unblockable move that will bounce your opponent off the wall setting them up for a juggle combo. The trade off is it takes awhile to charge up, somewhat like a Focus Attack in Street Fighter IV.

• Energy Chop (Zan Iwa Chop) •
Casshan does a chop that sends an energy wave along the floor, which can hit opponents on the ground. The speed and range of this move are determined by the button strength used.
This attack has several start up frames of animation, so Casshan can be hit out of it if your opponent sees it coming, so it's ideally used in combos or hitting grounded enemies.
Casshan has several ways which he can knock down his opponents, so this move ends up being pretty useful, despite the longish start up time.
or
(In the air)
• Ryuusei Kick •
This performs an aerial kick. The Light and Medium versions come in at different angles, only hit once and have no start up time.
(In the air)
• Flying Drill •
The Hard attack version hits several times and knocks down. If you score a knock down, follow up with Casshan's Energy Chop to combo.
Think of this move somewhat like Cammy's Cannon Strike in Street Fighter IV in that it must be performed while jumping and executing will alter the trajectory of your jump.

• Dog Rush (Friender Yobidashi) •
Casshan whistles to call his dog, Friender. Your dog can be hit by attacks which will negate anything he tries to do. Your Dog Rush attacks are fairly similar to Galford's in the Samurai Showdown fighting games.
The various button strengths do the following:
• Light Attack: This makes your dog go for a tackle that must be blocked high, this is a fast move.
• Medium Attack: Friender will try to bite your opponent. If he does so, you can run up and combo them which will score a down knock down. When this happens, follow up with an Energy Chop to get more damage.
• Hard Attack: Makes your dog breathe fire, yes, you read that right. Not much range as the dog runs to your side, but you can juggle with this.
![]()
• Jumping Knee (Hiza Kyaku) •
The button pressed determines the speed and damage of this attack. It makes Casshan do a jumping knee attack that must be blocked high.
After execution this move, Casshan has Super Armor before his knee attack comes out.
Hyper Moves
(In the air)
• Brutal Axe (Level 1) •
At first look, this closely resembles Casshan's Energy Chop, and it can hit knocked down enemies. It launches a giant vertical column of energy that doesn't have much horizontal range though.
Because of the horrendous recovery time, you'll only want to use this in combos or as an anti air move. If it's blocked you're going to be punished.
• Hyper Pummel and Dog Attack (Level 1, Scrap Andro) •
Note: If the first two hits do not land, Casshan will not finish the combo. This makes Casshan punch his opponent several times and his dog comes in also to attack.
This works well in combos, but can be punished if blocked.
![]()
• Green Laser of Death (Level 3, Chou Hakai Kousen) •
Casshan fires a gigantic big green laser beam which makes people explode if it hits. This is very powerful if you actually land it, but it's easy to punish and avoid, so it's best used when your opponent is clearly open to attacks.
Normal Moves
![]()
• Upper Chop (Launcher) •
This will launch your opponent up into the air.
Assists

| Energy Chop | Down-Toward + Hard Attack (Launcher) | Brutal Axe |
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Storyline
Tetsuya Azuma transformed himself from an ordinary human into the indestructible neoroider, Casshan. After his transformation, he awakened to awesome, newfound powers.
He chooses to use these powers to fight against the android Braiking Boss, who has violently seized control of the world.
Casshan’s signature face mask and pulsar weapon is accompanied by neoroider abilities such as extendable legs and superhuman strength. He is joined by Friender, his robotic dog partner who has a variety of special powers, including the ability to transform into a number of useful machines.
Character origins
Tatsunoko developed the 'Neo-Human Casshan' anime series, which coincidentally isn't too far removed from the plot of the Mega Man games.
Tetsuya Azuma (Casshan) turned himself into a cyborg to hunt down other robots that had taken over the world. Dr. Light Azuma was the inventor of the robots who were originally there to help human kind, but the robots later concluded that human kind wasn't fit to rule and took over.
Casshan is accompanied by his robot canine Rush Dog Friender, who helps him out through his adventures.

Mega-man vs Casshern (from wikipedia):
Tetsuya Azuma (東鉄也, Azuma Tetsuya?), also known as Casshern, is a cybernetic neoroider (新造人間, Shinzō Ningen?, lit. "neo-human"). Tetsuya turned himself into a cyborg for the purpose of hunting down and destroying robots that have taken over the world. His late biological father, Dr. Azuma, was the inventor of the robots that were originally intended to serve humankind. However the robots mutinied en masse when their cold logic concluded that the good of the Earth Ecosystem required the destruction of the human race.[5] [6]
Casshern and his robotic dog, Friender, join forces with a beautiful girl named Luna to battle the robots led by their brutal boss known as the Blackking Boss.[7]
Casshern:
The protagonist of the series, Casshern is an android -- the union of Tetsuya Azuma's data with an invincible body. In addition to super-human strength and agility, his solar-powered body features a number of unique android functions, including an opening and closing facemask and waist-mounted pulsar propellers.
Luna Kozuki:
A beautiful, 15-year-old girl who fights alongside Casshern. Like Tetsuya, her father is a scientist, and she is essential in the battle against the Andro Army, using a MF (Magnetic Field) pulse gun.
Kotaro Azuma:
The genius scientist who invented androids in hopes of helping mankind, and ironically became the architect of mankind's doom.
Midori Azuma:
Tetsuya's mother, who had been captured by the Andro Army and had her data transferred into the body of Swanee (スワニー, Suanī?), a swan-type robo pet kept by Braiking Boss. She observes the actions of Braiking Boss and appears before Casshern as a hologram to offer her support.
Friender:
Originally Tetsuya's pet dog, Lucky (ラッキー, Rakkī?), its data was used to revive it as Friender after it was killed. In order to support Casshern, he can transform into a jet, submarine, tank, or a motorcycle, and is even able to breathe flames. Friender is a brave robotic dog capable of standing up to the Andro Army alone.
Braiking Boss:
The antagonist of the series, originally BK-1, the first android created by Dr. Kotaro and designed to help the human race, he was struck by lightning and rebelled, renaming himself Braiking Boss. He leads the Andro Army in a plot to conquer the Earth.
Looks like Capcom pretty much changed the concept just enough to not get sued. (except for his mom being turned into a swan robot kept by the robot boss - that's kind of sick.)

His helmet blinks if he's low on health, MegaMan wishes he could do that.

Yeah all this 'Cassern is Megaman' talk is stupid. A) Cassern predates Rockman by like a decade. And B) Rockman is far more of an obvious Mighty Atom/Astro Boy knock off anyway.
PS: Cassern's lastest series, Cassern SINS f-ing owns.

This guy plays like an SNK character. Kinda reminds me of Joe Higashi sometimes... Just a little. :)

"His helmet blinks if he's low on health, MegaMan wishes he could do that."
The thing is, Megaman X CAN do that

I really like him. In a way he's like the C.Viper of TvC.

Casshern and V. Joe actually make a good team lol. Casshern can actually use V. Joe's assist with his dog for pressure since Friender can carry the bombs across the screen and even juggle them. Also Casshern can combo with his Hyper Pummel attack with V. Joe's six cannon. You have to make sure the first hit dosen't connect only the second and third do so Casshern can complete his full hyper, which takes out half of the opponents life. Or you can let the first two hits of Casshern's hyper connect and let V. Joe's six cannon hit them which will allow you to follow up with the wall bounce.

Just combo into M Denkou Punch to hit with Chou Hakaikousen. Works every time because of the stagger.
