Dee Jay vs. Character Strategies: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix

Blanka Match Up Information

vs. Blanka

You should play this match similar to if you were playing against E. Honda. Turtle up and use a lot of Max Outs.

Because of the length of Dee Jay's projectile, Blanka won't have as easy of a time sliding under them, especially if you mix up your timing.

Light Punch is also a key in this match. Your Jumping Light Punch will stuff a lot of Blanka's moves, including his Beast Rolls, and when he's close up Crouching Light Punch will help you create space and stop many of his attacks.

The main thing to be very afraid of is Blanka crossing you up with his Jumping Light Kick. He can set you up for a very difficult to counter tick throw, so keeping your distance and making him deal with a ton of projectiles and counter pokes is usually your best bet.

Also avoid the Machine Gun Punch more than you normally would, because Blanka's hit box is so small he can sometimes duck right under a few of the hits and be in a great position to hit you.

E. Honda Match Up Information

vs. E. Honda

You'll want to turtle up as much as possible, because if Honda gets close, you're likely going to eat an Oicho throw. If you're trying to escape from his cheese tactics, use Dee Jay's Light Kick Up Kick.

Use your Max Out to control positioning as much as possible. While Honda can negate these with his Light Headbutts, he still has a tough time getting around it by other means, especially when he's full screen distance from you.

Do Crouching Hard Kicks to score knock downs and try to get a bit more breathing room while he's on the ground. Then start pegging him with Max Outs again.

Dee Jay's Jumping Light Punch will counter Honda's Headbutt and Sumo Splashes when he closes ground. Also you can use Dee Jay's Standing Medium Punch to counter Honda's Sumo Splashes if he's above you.

M. Bison Match Up Information

vs. M. Bison

Jumping Light Punch will beat out some of M. Bison's moves, including his Flame Torpedo. You may trade hits though against some of his jumping normals and because he is so powerful you'll be on the losing end of this most times.

As such you'll often NOT want to go into the air to counter his jump attacks, instead try and keep him pinned down with relentless Max Outs and anti air him from the ground.

Since Dee Jay is vulnerable to Tick Throws and Bison is so damn good at it, except to see a lot of these so counter with Crouching Light Kicks and Reversal Up Kicks.

Bison is capable of dizzying you very quickly and he has a great cross up attack. He can turn a losing match around to a winning one quickly — so be careful.

Ryu Match Up Information

vs. Ryu

This is still one of Dee Jay's most difficult match ups, but it's bit easier now with the improved Machine Gun Punch.

Ryu is going to be able to pound the crap out of you with his Fireballs during parts of this match, unless you have great timing and prediction skills with your Machine Gun Punch.

Even then you don't want to get in the habit of trying to win a projectile battle, instead close enough ground so that you can hit him with a Jumping Hard Kick into a sweep when he gets a little too aggresive with his projectiles.

After you score a knock down, try and set up one of Dee Jay's combos or a tick throw.

When you're in close, mix up your ground attacks with Crouching Medium and Hard Kicks, and well-timed Dread Kicks to knock Ryu back when he starts trying to use low attacks.

Remember, while you can kick back in this match a bit more than you could in Super Turbo — you still need to be the aggressor. And watch out for those Shoryukens. :P

Sagat Match Up Information

vs. Sagat

You can travel right through Sagat's Low Tiger Shots with your Light Kick Dread Kick. While this won't completely keep Sagat from throwing them out there, he needs to be a bit more careful against Dee Jay players.

As such expect to see a lot of High Tiger Shots, hit these deep with Dee Jay's Jumping Hard Kick so that Sagat doesn't have enough time to pull off a Tiger Uppercut before you land.

This is a match you should be much more aggressive in, because getting in a projectile battle against Sagat is not in Dee Jay's best interests.

As such try to cross him up frequently so you can land one of your big combos or go for a tick throw.

Vega Match Up Information

vs. Vega

Vega is very quick, so you'll want to stick with Dee Jay's faster moves so you don't leave yourself open.

Use your Light Kick Up Kicks to counter his Off the Wall dives. While these do less damage if you connect, you have more invulnerability and less recovery time, making it more difficult for hit you if missed. If you don't have time to charge these up, go for Standing Medium Punches.

Also use a lot of Crouching Medium Kicks. This move has great priority and you can knock Vega out of several of his attacks. Again don't underestimate this move, especially against Vega. He has a difficult time countering it.

Zangief Match Up Information

vs. Zangief

Be very, very careful in this battle. Once Zangief gets inside on you — you may have just lost.

While Dee Jay has great tools to keep Gief at a distance, he doesn't have much he can do up close.

So use a lot of Max Outs, you can Slide Sweep Zangief when he does his Lariat, but be wary of over using this tactic because if you get predictable you'll be swept out of it and Gief will have gotten inside.

Use your multitude of anti air options when he jumps in, and always try to keep yourself charged up.

And most importantly, be smart and don't get predictable with your projectiles.

I have been using him since he is similar to GUILE.
He is an beast if used correctly. I have had my A$$ handed to me plenty of nights with this guy.

I have to use somebody besides guile. I am getting tired of him already.

ooo ahh oo ahh
guile is a beast.

i think dee jay is much more suited to fighting blanka. spamming crounching low punchs keeps blanka from rolling and you can do the jumping low punch because that seems to have high priority against the rolls. while doing max outs and such you can put up a really really nice wall and make most blankas mad
