What the crap does the last achievement/trophy mean anyway? I mean, Ruler of All doesn't seem very clear...

abx11 is probably right. For one thing all PS3 games that have trophies have one final trophy which you get once you get all the other trophies so thats what that probably is.

Is anyone else pissed off that we have to UNLOCk half of the characters that have been around since the 90s era of SFII?! I mean, Gouken, I'll give you based solely on the merit that he's completely new. Seth, well...had to unlock Gill in 3S, so I'm for it. Beyond that, we've already seen the characters and their respective moves...so what the hell is up with this?

Ruler of All is the Platinum Trophy, obtained when you get all other trophies.

I didn't know it hadn't been confirmed, this list is on PS3 Trophy sites since last year.

If by strongest you mean last secret boss then maybe. But other then that all of the characters in sfiv are apparently really well balanced. I've seen some pros who got to play it talk and they say that the new characters are mostly middle tierish. Sagat will still be top but really anyone is viable. (see Dhalsim winning that big tourny)

The quickest way to unlock all characters is to just set the rounds to one and the difficulty setting to easiest.

I don't like the whole process of having to repeatedly finish the game with multiple characters in order to unlock others as I want to play with whoever whenever, preferably as soon as I start playing the game. If there is a code to unlock all of them I'll use that.

well... if you go on gamefaqs you can just download the save with all the unlocked characters if your that pissed about unlocking... but going through arcade with each character will make you better at the game and force you to try every character

Ive unlocked everyone except akuma, gouken and seth, Ive more than met the requirements to fight akuma but he never shows up, only gouken... I get 2 perfects and 4 ultras and then after you beat seth gouken shows up and after him...beat him and you get NOTHING.

we have unlock Gouki in rookie mode, 1 round ! (4-5 perfect, seth got his own :p)

Uh dude, you do realize the majority of people don't have the game yet. So answering your question will take some time.

With that said, I too have that same issue. So some of the info is inaccurate pertaining to Seth, Akuma and Gouken. I was able to get Akuma after beating him. To fight him you need to beat arcade without a loss. But I also beat arcade with more than half the characters so dunno if there's another criteria that I fulfilled. And at this point I did not have Seth. After I beat Akuma he appeared on my list of selection.

When I beat arcade with Akuma, Gouken did not unlock. So don't know what the true criteria is. Still can't unlock Seth after beating it with everyone.

GoldNT that did not work for me, played through as Ryu, got one perfect and 3 ultra finishes with no continues. I did face gouken after Seth, beat him first time but he did not unlock.

There's the "Easiest" setting in Arcade mode which is the as easy as it's going to get... and they rarely block. If that's still too hard then I have no idea what else will suit you.

This is key folks: to get Akuma to appear you need the get two perfect rounds using A CHARACTER THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY BEATEN ARCADE MODE WITH. If you went through the game with Ken but hadn't already beaten it once with Ken, Akuma wouldn't show.

Akuma: in a single run through in arcade you need to get at least 2 perfects and 2 ULTRA finishes(3 attack buttons, must be finishes); Only difference for Gouken is you need 3 Ultra finishes.
Easiest way to do this is put it on 'easiest' then use either a distance fighter or someone like Honda for his torpedo move so you don't get nick damage when getting your perfects, after you get your perfects, run into them until your 'revenge' gauge is filled, beat them down to 1/4 health then do the ultra move to finish them off.
And btw, if you don't beat Akuma or Gouken the first time, you have to do this allll over again, no continues.
Hope this helped some of you (oh, side note, Akuma and Gouken don't show up until after you beat Seth)

Contrary to popular believe, other then the 2 perfects and 3 ultra finishes, THERE ARE NO OTHER REQUIREMENTS, you don't have to beat it w/ Akuma, you don't need to use a character you already beat it with, just fulfill the 2/3 above.
As far as Seth, you need to beat the game w/ everyone, doesn't matter the difficulty, but that necessitates that you unlock everyone and beat the game w/ all of them in order to get him.
*Just remember the 2/3 or 2/2 need to be done in a single play of arcade, it's usually alot easier if you set it to best of 3, so you have more opportunities to get the requirements done.

If your talking about Gouken, your wrong. I've fulfilled the req. above (perfect round, more than 3 ultra combo finishes) and I fight Gouken. .but he doesn't unlock.

I already have Akuma (per the req above).

I have found M.Bison on easiest the best way to win. You just start of with a psycho crusher do that back and forth as the CPU gets up and you get and easy perfect victories.

Seth - take him out with head stomps (for the most part)

To get the ultras I charge/beat up on the computer using focus attacks. You take less damage if done correctly and you charge up the meter. I then weaken the other player with psycho crusher and finish with Ultra. So i have had no problem fulfilling the req. and Gouken fights me. . he just doesn't unlock.

I don't think the order matters. . .I played and won as Akuma (with one continue). Akuma says something about Gouken and they talk over Ryu.

So then I play through as M.Bison do the perfects, the Ultras, in no paticular order.. .and Gouken Unlocks.

So the question is . .has anyone gotten Gouken without first beating the game once with Akuma? I'm pretty sure that the requirement is

Beat Game as Akuma
Any character
one perfect round
three ultra ending rounds
without continuing

I tried Perfect, Ultra, Ultra, Ultra 2 differnt times. Once Ryu and once Bison. Then I did it with Akuma. Every time I did it I got to fight Gouken, but he was never selectable. After Perfect, Ultra, Ultra, Ultra and beating seth with Akuma still no luck. I played through again with Ryu, Perfect, Ultra, Ultra, Ultra and then Gouken was selectable.

Guess like you said. Has to be beaten with Akuma, then Perfect + 3 Ultra using another character if you wanna select Gouken.

I unlocked Akuma by beating the game with Ryu: 2 perfects only 1 Ultra.

Gouken: did it with ryu 2 perfects 3 ultras in no order.

My friends didn't even do what I stated above and still got both. I don't think there is any real consistency to this.

I went to FIVE websites to find out the method to unlock Gouken. I can see by the various responses on this board that other people have had the same issues. Could there be a "number of matches" played requirement involved and that is where the issues stem from in unlocking him?

I will point out though that I did follow the methodology above regarding the perfects and then three ultras to unlock him.

Okay so my bros and I unlocked all the characters except seth but i found this kinda strange. when we unlocked gouken we used akuma and the only way to unlock him is to beat him right? Well i just got thru playing thru arcade mode with ken and i had to fight gouken last. i just found that kinda strange. it didn't matter since we already unlocked him but i'm wondering if playing with akuma in the first place to get gouken would have really mattered.

hmm well this is how i did it. first I Unlocked Akuma, then completed Arcade mode as him without using any continues. Then completed Arcade mode once more as Ryu, without using continues and had at least two "Perfect" victories and three "Ultra" combo finishes. After you defeat Seth, Gouken will appear. Defeat him to unlock him. BUT a little while ago when i was playing i didnt have to do this at all. i jus ran thru the game wit ken executing supers and getting some perfects n after i beat seth with a perfect I had to fight Gouken.

oh one more thing. when doing this it has to be done like this: First 2 fights must be perfects. I suggest setting it to one round instead of two. also you have to ONlY use the jump kick and sweep method. As for the third fourth and fith fights you have to do the same thing as the first two rounds but you dont have to get perfects. u must continue to use the jump kick sweep method and allow your ultra super gauge to fill up and defeat ur opponents with ur ultra super. (the way we did it was we used the jump kick and sweep method to take the life down to a low amount then let the computer hit us so our ultra gauge could fill up.) Now after the 5th round do the jump kick and sweep method for the rest of ur fights and gouken should appear. again i suggest setting this to one round and on the easiest mode for and easier time of course. also the kicks u use MUST be heavy kicks. hope that helps

I unlocked akuma by obtaining two ultra finishes and two perfects in no order what so ever ( managed a perfect on seth in the final round ) with ryu , unlocked gouken with akuma by finishing the first two rounds with perfects and the other three rounds with consective ultra combo finishes ,remaining rounds normal wins whilst making sure i got hit at least once . Tip : i find akumas ultra combo to be the most powerful aswell as the most easiest to pull off . Apart from that i really want to know if there is any cheats that allow unlimited ex moves and supers ( unlimited gauge ) ... ?

I would like to unlock all of the character colours though it states that you need to defeat survival and time attack modes 1 , 2 , 6 ,7 , 11 , 12 , 16 , 17 do not understand example , i have unlocked time attack & survival on normal ... '1 & 2 ' ...though i do not know what those numbers represent ... ? as i have only passed them both once each . I have a feeling that it has something to do with the type or number of characters you use for each level .

Having a little trouble unlocking Seth. On the road to unlokcing Akuma and Gouken, I beat the game with every character. I have also beaten it with Akuma and Gouken. After beating it with all characters, then beating it again with Gouken and not continuing, I have still not unlocked Seth. What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to unlock seth right now too. the way i was told to do it was to complete the game with each original character (excluding the unlockable characters) but it has to be done on normal difficulty. i've got 3 characters left to go hopefully it works.

I had all 6 of those character unlocked, played with a character I already beat the game with, got about 6 perfects and 1 ultra finish and no continues... and did NOT unlock Akuma, so either its got to be exactly 2 perfects and no more, or theres some other hidden requirement. Its worth noting I haven't beaten vega's arcade mode yet, so maybe you have to beat all the original characters stories first?

Nevermind, I forgot to beat the game as Fei Long. In order to unlock Seth, you have to beat the game as every character, including the unlockable ones, not just the original 16.

I just got Legendary Champion! That means I defeated gouken on hardest difficulty!

Hears how to do it. Pick Akuma, jump and do air hadokens until you are at a safe distance. Then time the half circle hadoken (the one that hits 3 times). The idea is to get them to do a fireball, so that yours will go through and hit them. Even works on Seth! But you have to be good at timing, if not, he will jump off the wall and then towards you and beat you up. Remember, bailing out with teleports works well against Seth when he jumps towards you. GL

Hey all,
I've finished "Time Attack Normal 17" which unlocked the last personal action I needed, now I can select actions 1-9 when I select the character, but this DIDN'T unlock the "No Sweat" X360 achievement!!!!

I'm wondering if this is a known bug... any of you have the same problem? or is there a "Personal Action 10" still hidden somewhere?

and there is no stage order to the "PERFECT PERFECT ULTRA WHATEVER" bull for gouken/akuma.
its just the amount or perfects/ultras.
all characters can be earned with 1 round easiest settings.

ok i just unlocked all 3 "hidden" characters last night. the way to do this is very simple.
for Akuma:
1) You Must beat the game with all other characters (this can be done on easiest setting one round matches and Infinite time)

2) Play through Game again with any character and get 2 Perfects and 2 Ultra finishes and no continues. Once you beat seth you will see a shadowy figure you have to fight which will be Akuma.

3) Beat Akuma.

For Gouken:

1) Beat the game with all characters including Akuma.(Once again...easiest One round Infinite time.

2) Play through game again with any character and get 2 Perfects and 3 Ultra Finishes and no continues. Once you beat seth you will see a shadowy figure you have to fight which will be Gouken.

3) Beat Gouken.

For Seth:

1) Beat Game with EVERY character in the Game. This includes Gouken

So in Easy terms....beat the game with every character. When you unlock a character you have to beat the game with them. If you dont know if you've beaten the game with all the characters or are not sure which characters you've beaten the game with just go to Gallery->Movies->Endings this will show you all the characters you have seen the ending for which means you beat the game with them. Once you unlock a "hidden" character BEAT THE GAME WITH THEM!!! If you dont beat the Game with them you will not be able to unlock the next one

to unlock akuma you only have to unlock the "hidden" characters (Cammy, Fei Long, etc). I haven't beaten the game with everyone. . .but I have akuma and gouken.

Gouken is the 1 perfect and Three Ultras. I don't think you need to do any "order" like it says above. Of course Gouken won't be selectable unless you beat it with Akuma first. . .you can fight him using one perfect, three ultras. . .but unless you have beaten it with akuma he won't unlock

thank you chris for clearing that up. i just posted my method that way because most people want to unlock seth as well and i know you have to play through with every character to unlock him. IMO that is the easiest way to unlock everyone. i was not sure of exactly how many perfects you needed but i wrote what worked for me.

it is impossible to complete some of the trail challenges... for example: I complete a combo with Seth (crouch -low punch, then ultra) and it does the super instead... even tho i press all three punch buttons (and just to be sure I program the three punch command to the square button) ... They should really patch that bcuz im sure its not the only glitch.. anybody else had any problems with that stuff?

Ight well I tried a lot of the options that I found on the internet; the one that worked is :

Settings: Easiest / 99 sec / 1 Round

Get 2 Perfect and 3 Ultra's NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS

Oh and ofcourse U cannot die.

If u do all that and defeath you, Gouken will face you and all u have to do is beat him. He is way easier to fight then Seth.

In a vid I seen an acheviement called "Shin-Shoryuken, B****!" being triggered in a vid (titled just that), and I don't think that SF4 is that easily modable. The vid was basically Gouken doing numerous Shin Shoryukens.

The trial for Seth is not bugged. I just did all of them. You just need to work on your execution. This site has good resources in the third strike section on the difference between a link and a cancel. The short version is, links are really hard to do. Also, some of those combos must be done in the corner. Close your eyes, relax, and count between button presses. Do the whole motion slowly, many times, and then speed it up until you can do it quickly, precisely, and most importantly if you actually want to use it later, relaxed. This works for everything. You'll be canceling EX Shoryukens into sonic booms and such in no time ;-)

Costumes are downloaded. There is no evil Ryu. Japan also gets there downloads first. So far theres 4 sets on the PS Network.

The PS3 version of SF4 is tied to Playstation home and after a few games you win items that you can use in the Home application. The "DAN" download is a blue SF4 shirt you can wear. I just won an Akuma shirt. Im not sure what the requirements are but i have both shirts in Home. I received the Akuma "TEN" shirt after i racked up a hundred wins.

just unlocked gouken, with all the crap above it took me a while but the way i did it was too complete the game with akuma and then i used the 1 round tactic to complete it. i used sagat and got 2 perfect rounds and 3 ultra rounds, no order to that. gouken then shows up and i beat him, after that he was a playable character.

i got akuma very easy i got one perfect and no continues, i didnt have to do any combos or ultra moves, then when i beat seth by just hard kicking, akuma appeared i had to fight him which was easy as i just hard kicked him and i got him.

Everyone seems to agree that you get Seth when you beat the game with every character (including, of course, the unlockable characters). It worked for me. Go to your video viewer thing and see which endings you have to make sure you've beaten it with every character. Also, I guess it's possible that you have to beat the entire arcade mode with each character rather than just switching to a certain character right before Seth, but I have no reason to think that's true other than that you are having trouble. It's highly likely you just forgot a character.

The only trouble I had unlocking any characters was that I fought Gouken instead of Akuma several times even though I was trying to fight Akuma. Then, I tried getting the perfect victories WITHOUT the Ultra finishes and I fought Akuma instead of Gouken. I guess getting several (any?) Ultra finishes makes you fight Gouken automatically. Or maybe it was the "five First Attack" requirement that made the difference. It's very tricky.

I decided I want to get the Legendary Champion trophy, so I'm gonna work on fighting Gouken again for that purpose. Has there finally been a consensus reached on unlocking Gouken?

Lots of people seem to have trouble for some reason unlocking people. Akuma i did 2 perfects and 2 Ultra finishs without dying on release day and unlocked fine. then Gouken right after with 2 perfects and 3 ultra finishes. And it doesnt matter if u continue or not for Seth. just check ur ending movies to make sure u did it with everyone. I played thru the whole game to Seth with akuma everytime, died then picked who i wanted to beat it with and once i beat it with the last guy it worked fine. Had all the characters on Release day.

well this is how i unlocked akuma and gouken:

set difficulty to easeist
set number of rounds to 1
to get akuma i simply did 2 or more perfects and 3 or more ultra finishes(the one that requires the revenge bar, not the other one.)

for Gouken i did the exact same thing.

its easy to unlock seth after you got everyone else. just get your favorite character and start kickin ass ^.^ i hope this helped you guys

TO unlock akuma, unlock everyone else apart from akuma, gouken and seth and then beat arcade mode in easiest, playing as a character that you have already completed arcade mode with and number of rounds set to 1 and get a perfect to face akuma after seth, once akuma is unlocked you need to beat arcade mode again with a character you have already completed the game with, and get 1 perfect, 3 ultra combo finishes and 5 first hits, and you will face gouken after seth. To then unlock seth beat arcade mode with every character. If you use this method, like me ur character screen will soon be nice and full = )

I don't see the point of purchasing alternate costumes. What the hell? It dosen't make you a better player. Sure, its a great alternative and they do look great but I think these costumes should have been rewarded to those with a medium to high ranking or something. In other words, for free. You know, that would give you a great sense of achievement. Also when you challenge someone and they're using an alternate costume, you know you have to take them seriously. Maybe capcom should release a another set of alternate costumes but but only available to those in the skill set I mentioned. Just a thought. Fei Long in the yellow tracksuit maybe? Wicked!

Play the game on easiest mode and beat the game with ever character.

Your easiest way to do it is setting the matches to 1 match and not losing a battle all the way to Seth himself.

I finally attempted the "Legendary Champion" achievement and was successful in getting Gouken to appear with the following sequence:
Arcade mode: Hardest
# of Rounds: 1
Time: 99 seconds
I had 2 perfects and 4 Ultras with no continues.

Strange fact: i have unlocked Akuma and Gouken without finishing arcade mode with cammy, i realised this when i didn't get Seth. To see the one you missed, just go see ending cinematics and the "???" are the one you have missed.

Man, this is a load of BS, I've read all 200 comments and I still can't unlock Akuma. I have unlocked everyone except Akuma, Gouken and Seth. I've tried
P,P,U,U,U,V.V..
P,P,U,U,V,V.V..
P,P,V.V..
P.V.V...
and I fought Akuma every time but after kicking his ass he never unlocked.

akuma.... unlock all characters except gouken and seth
then beat the game with sumone that you already played as and get at least 2 perfects and an UC finish with no continues

gouken
beat the game with akuma
then beat the game gain with sumone that you already played as and get at least 2 perfects, 3 UC finishes, and 5 first attacks

beat the game with everyone

If your having trouble going thru the whole game with a player you don't use to often try this. set game settings to easiest, one round, and infinite time. choose a player your good with beat everyone. lose to seth and pick a player you need to unlock one of the other character's. if you still have trouble beating seth try this jump in and hit him with a fierce kick on the head then a leg sweep with the fierce kick. it really worked for me i got my xbox 360 today and unlocked all the players in under 3 hours Mr.Valor

to unlock akuma I recommend watching the whole video after you beat him. If you dont you cant get akuma.
