Akuma's brother, Gouken, is the legendary martial art master of Ryu and Ken.
After training with his brother under Goutetsu and learning the unnamed assassination style, the siblings separated.
Gouken rejected the Satsui no Hadou side of the fighting style and developed his own additions, removing the killing power of Hadouken and Shoryuken, turning them into tools for self-defense.
Gouken was challenged twice by his demonic brother and would eventually be killed by his hands... or so many believed.

I guess Capcom USA couldn't decide on what his style was called so now it's officially "unnamed"...
Shotokahn..?
Ansatsuken...??
NOW unnamed.

Shotokan was a mistake, Ansatsuken means assassination fist/style so it seems like ansatsuken was just describing the style

What are the conditions to play against Gouken in the arcade?

Looks like a great new character. Can't wait to test out his style.

How the hell did he survived, though? I wonder if Capcom will think about something, or just leave it like that.

Yeah exactly, all the male characters (baring the fat ones who've been munching it up)look like they'v been on steroids in the gym & now are dealing with the side effects on the stage.

The game reveals that he survived his first battle with his Brother Gouki. Gouken says he was unconcious the whole time.
And in a cutscene, it shows that he can now totally dismiss the Shun Goku Satsu through the Power of Nothingness (Mu no Ken), though it is unclear as to who won their second fight...seeing how the cutscene ended just as they were about to begin.
But it is safe to assume he survived because in SF3, Ryu did not fully give in to the Satsui no Hado, so maybe Gouken won the fight and just let Akuma live (again)

The symbol on his flag, 無 (mu) means "nothing"; nothingness.

Will capcom EVER explain what happened to Gouken in SF3? If we see him alive in SF4 (which takes place BEFORE SF3) why wasnt he in SF3?...
...Its cool having Gouken in SF4 and all,he was actualy a nice addition, but to make it so that he's still alive(as opposed to showing him in simply a flashback) just jacks the story all up! the Street Fighter story as a whole is all jacked up! This is Street Fighter in chronological order...
Street Fighter Alpha(the entire series)
Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter 3....
...you see,all jacked up! In Street Fighter Alpha we see M.Bison Destroyed by several variouse characters(depending on who you beat the game with) In SF2 we see him appear again, which doesnt make sense at all(I personaly saw SFAlpha as the equivalent of the Mega Man X series,an ALTERNATE storyline to the origanal Mega Man(or Street Fighter in this case) seriese,NOT a prequal(Which doesnt make any sense at all))
they try to explain it away by saying that while Bison's body was destroyed in SfAlpha, he got a new body in SF2 (which explains why it was smaller and weaker thatn his other one) but i ll tell you why his body(as well as the rest of the cast of SF2 had "smaller" body's...DIFFERENT ART TEAM!(Did EVERYBODY get new bodies? i dont think so!)
Another plot hole that they have to deal with by puttin alpha in the series chronologicly is Ryu's struggle with the dark hadou. In SFAlph he first encounters and overcomes it. In SF2,its never mentioned, and in SF4(the next chapter in the series) Ryu is struggling with it for the first time(according to Akuma's storyline it has awakened within him) again!!
My point is that they should just leave SFAlpha out of the series storyline, keed it as an alternate universe and just countinue on with what theyre doing instead of trying to make games that didnt even come out in the right order fit chronologicly(heh, take that, again,Capcom!)
(dont you all just love my rants?)...

By adding alpha characters they have to include some alpha story I think.

Isn't a story in a fighting game usually left almost entirely to the player's imagination? Everything seems to have alternative endings depending on who you use, and the villains never seem to actually die (no one does in fact, besides Mortal Kombat's infamous Liu Kang), and the characters seem to be randomly selected for the games.
Like Street Fighter has one massive roster, but certain characters are restricted to certain versions of the series such as Alpha or Super or something, and Capcom just kind of picks eight must-haves, then throws darts at a dartboard covered with character pictures to decide who else gets added in.
I don't even try to keep up with the story at this point.

Gouken is the example of a tank with one wheel. It's virtually never going to hit you, but when it does, that's the end.

@14
If remember right...His was just simply 'beat' in the alpha series. In sf2 he was killed by akuma with the raging demon thus making him on life support on sf4 lol
