Gen was good friends with Chun-Li's father, who was murdered by M. Bison.
The stern old man trained the beautiful detective for a short time in her youth and still watched over her from afar.
Though his body is weak, he is constantly seeking out opponents who can stand up to his assassination abilities and will stop at nothing to ensure his best friend's daughter remains safe.
Gen's combat styles incorporate a wide variety of stances. He targets his opponent's vitals, causing great damage with precise movement.

Wasn't Lee, from Street Fighter 1, that trained Yun and Yang? I thought Lee was the twins' grandfather

Lee was Yun and Yang's grandfather, but he died and Gen looked after them and I assume trained them.

If Gen is trying to protect Chun Li then why are they fighting each other during the story mode? Doesnt he even say he wants to kill her or something??

Whats a nice guy. I wish they would explain the change in hair style, though. Biggest plot hole in the game or something.

Lol, his hair did receive a dramatic change but it looks good. Gen is my second favorite character. His techniques are awesome.

Gen is NOT Yun & Yangs real grandfather. They see him as their real grandfather because he was around most of their lives. Yun & Yang were taken away from their real parents at a young age. NO Gen didn't train Akuma they both admire each others techniques because both their techniques are extremely lethal and deadly. Gen protects Chun-Li for his bestfriend i assume

^ Thanks for explaning because I thought that Gena and Akuma had some sort of relation because of their alpha 3 match. That's my favorite match in alpha 3. But, Gen is amazing, he blocked the raging demon lol.

Udon's story for Gen and Akuma:
Akuma sought out Gen since they both respect each other's power/skill/whatever.
They fought and they each used their respective killing moves (Zanei and RD/SGS)and survived, hence the SFA3 intro.
Then Akuma calls off the match since Gen was terminally ill and didn't view it as a fair fight since Gen was handicapped.

And thats why Yun and Yang have similar attacks to Gen. But the twins mix it up a little bit.
Example you ask?
Yun and Yang dive kick = Gen's Oga
Yang's dragon kick = Gen's Rolling attack followed by Gekiro
Yun's dragon Kick = Gen's S.HK (crane)
Yang's slash attack = Gen's Super/Ultra1 (mantis)
And some normals
