Dan is a Hong Kong-born fighter of Japanese descent. He travels the world in an effort to spread his own self-developed fighting style known as Saikyo.

After the death of his father, Dan sought power from Gouken's dojo hoping to use his acquired knowledge to one day avenge his father.
Once his master discovered his motives for training, he was swiftly booted out.
This did not deter Dan, whose self-induced delusions of grandeur know no bound. Left on his own, he somehow developed a personal fighting style, mixing what little he learned from Gouken with whatever he knew of Muay Thai.
Dan called it Saikyo, The Strongest Style, despite the weakness of the techniques.
Having missed the previous fighting tournament , Dan is ready to enter the ring and show the world just how great he is! Which according to him, is pretty great.

I like that he's a little fatter in this game. Kinda like Steven Seagel. I doubt they made in on purpose. Must be an accident, but, still, I think it's great.

I hate his English voice though, he's supposed to be incredibly manly and overdramatic, not... incredibly girlie and sensitive.
Good thing you can change from English to Japanese voices for individual characters, amirite?

First off, Dan is a REAL man's character. Anyone can use "the one(ryu), Kaptain Kombo(Ken), and god forbid...Zangief(shivers) but Dan is ALL about power. Don't sleep on Dan. You'll regret it.

true...too many people are using ryu & ken, its only been a week and im already sick of it. id rather lose to anyone else than beat Ken or Ryu.

Oh man, what is there not to like about Dan? He's got a jumping taunt, a crouching taunt, a super taunt (!), he's the only char that literally falls on his face when he misses the Ultra, he's got trouble repeating Ken's throw and the way his teeth shine in the sun is simply fantastic... he's THE MAN!

i've been using Dan on a regular basis. his priority sucks and his ultra is hard to combo into, but damn he's a fun character.

Taunting is to show your opponent that whoppin thier ass isn't enough your gonna mock them too. Only the ultimate baddass players get get in 20+ taunts and still win including the super taunt.

Yall know that the creatiion of Dan as a character was origanly a mock of all the "King of Fighters" characters,and the fact that they so blatently copied off of many of Street Fighter's character designs right?...

I love that Dan looks like he's hiding how fat he is. He has that belt, which is obviously a little tight next to Ryu and Ken. Then he has the undershirt, which is no doubt to hide his man-boobs. He's so self conscious.

SNK is in on the joke too. When they make SNK Vs Capcom, the crossover game made by SNR themselves (instead of Caplan), Dan is an even bigger parody. He would mistake himself for an SNK character in a mirror match.

Seriously? How can you say Dan is a man?
He wears PINK, just to begin with the speech.
He cries everytime he takes a hit, gets KO'd and wins.
Sometimes when he wins, he makes a pose in which he seems like he's giving away his ass for some active gay to freak it off all night.
Most his taunts are gay and his Gadouken just isn't pink for it to hide... A little.

I use Ryu when I feel like trying for a solid win.
I use Cammy when I feel like changing up the pace of battle.
I use Sagat when I feel like I need to squish something.
I use Ken to remind myself of why I hate Ken.
I use Sakura because she amuses me.
I use Dan because the moment Dan shows up, epic and fail collide like never before.
Dan rocks!
