Zangief's plotline and history for Street Fighter 4

A man who trains with polar bears in Siberia should not be taken lightly.

Zangief is the greatest professional wrestler the Soviet Union has ever produced and his ferociously muscular body is packed with blazing passion and love for his home country.

He is a patriot to his very core and is disgusted at acts of selfish evil.

Zangief is ready to prove he is the strongest fighter in the world and fights for his land and the little ones who look up to him.

Using close range combat, Zangief will gladly take a punch in order to grab his opponent.

He is called the Red Cyclone for a reason and his famous Spinning Piledriver is to be feared.

Read that again F IR I IE Z A.
It doesn't say that's why he's famous.

His story was kinda sad in SF4 ... with the fall of the Soviet Union all he had to fight for was to show he still had pride in his country even tho so many people gave up on it. For a fighting game, Street Fighter has always had great stories behind its characters.

As a usseless fact, wrestling was forbbiden in the Soviet Union. They said it was barbaric so they didn“t allowed it. I know that cos my mom is from the USSR and told me so.

you're a twit, so where did the USSR get all those Olympic Wrestlers from? let's hear your answer, this ought to be good.

The USSR collapsed in 1991, so the wrestlers were just representing the union. Wrestling wasn't forbidden because wrestlers there were known for their freestyle type of wrestling. They dominated in that category all though out the 1990s. It may have been frowned upon, but the USSR had no laws regulating the banning or forbidding of wrestling.

It does imply that he is named Red Cyclone after his Spinning Piledriver. Doesn't matter, he's a beast - that's all you need to know about him.

SNK has always had better stories and went more in depth as well. Most characters have last names as SF have no last names.

actually Zangief is LAST name. he doesn't have first name in the game. trust me :) and by the way, with all this black hair and beard he looks much more chechen (caucasian) restler than slavic one. also his last name suggests that... so training in siberia seems not to be true to his story...

@ truth

well, for the most part, they don't say the full names, but I know guile's first name is William, Ken's last name is Masters, and Balrog (aka m. bison in Japan) is named Mike Bison. Besides that, you're pretty much right :/
