Venom moves and strategies: Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Special Moves
(Can also be used in the air)
• Venom Fang •
Venom performs an arcing leap forwards and bites his enemy hitting multiple times. This move has a quick start up time making it easy to combo with, plus the angle it travels at is handy for juggling.
Hard Punch travels further and hits more times which usually means it does more damage than the Light Venom Fang.
• Venom Rush •
Creates a monster with a large hit box at your opponent's feet, although this can be blocked high or low.
Because of the start up time, your Venom Rush doesn't have much use in combos, but it can be an unexpected surprise to throw out there when you're far away and your enemy is chucking fireballs at you.
Hard Kick hits from full-screen's distance, Light Kick hits from about sweep range.
• Web Throw •
Shoots a web at your opponent, and if it hits Venom will slam them into the ground multiple times. Venom won't follow up after the web connects if you're too far away though. Light Punch travels straight across the screen. Hard Punch travels diagonally up-forward, which is angled to hit jumping characters.
or
• Air Dash •
You can dash while in the air by using either of these two commands.
Hyper (Super) Moves
• Venom Web •
Executing this makes you jump into the air and shoot out a web, if your opponent isn't blocking when they're in the web, you'll do a series of attacks taking off alright damage.
The big drawback with this Hyper is the start up time means you won't be able to use it in many combos, but that's not too big of a problem considering your other Hyper move is A LOT better.
• Death Bite •
A Hyper version of your Venom Rush attack. This is very easy to use in combos because of its fast start up time, and it does a ton of damage.
Also, since Venom's Hard Punch throw wraps his opponent up into a web letting him combo after wards, it's a piece of cake to set up your Death Bite consistently in a match.
The biggest drawback here is that when you use this with your opponent in the corner, sometimes the majority of the hits will miss, so you'll want to stick to other moves when your enemy is cornered.

Mash buttons and rotate the joystick after the Web Throw connects, for an extra two slams and 50% more damage to the throw. Venom is a simple bum-rush/heavy damage character, so running in and pressing fierce punch in a crowd of opponents and assist characters isn't a mortal sin. Abuse it. Abuse jumping roundhouse which comes out fast and lasts a long time. It is also chainable with the venom fang on reaction, giving you air-to-air dominance over anyone that isn't top tier. In the corner, get obnoxious with jab-jab-Venom Fang(light punch). With the help of a good assist like anti air doom or jin or capn commando, you can force a mistake and punish them for it.
