Iceman moves and strategies: Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Last updated on Aug. 4, 2009

Iceman has the special ability to absorb -some- projectiles and a few Hyper moves without taking any chip (block) damage.
Special Moves
(Can also be done in the air)
• Ice Beam •
Quickly shoots out a beam of ice, hits about 6-8 times and can also be done in the air.
Light Punch travels straight across the screen, regardless of if you jump or not. A Hard Punch Ice Beam when you're on the ground is shot at a diagonally up-towards angle to knock jumpers out of the air.
Hard Punch Ice Beams while jumping are arced diagonally down-towards. Considering the speed and relative power, plus your angle control, Iceman's projectile can be quite good.
(Can also be done in the air)
• Ice Avalanche •
Iceman creates a big ice ball at mid-screen that drops from the ceiling. Light Kick makes it fly straight down, Hard Kick travels diagonally down-towards. Can also be done in the air.
• Ice Fist •
Gives your fist into an ice boulder, which makes all of your regular punch attacks do more damage. The boulder will break after three hits, regardless of if they hit or are blocked.
Coupled with Iceman's great projectile, this should give you room and opportunity to activate your Ice Fist frequently.
Hyper (Super) Moves
(Can also be done in the air)
• Arctic Attack •
Iceman shoots out a bunch of ice blocks from his chest area, these spread out in a pretty wide arc so this is best used from close range.
But, it's an easy attack to combo into and it's reasonably damaging, which is good because this is your only Hyper move.
Command Normals
(In the air)
• Ice Boulder •
(In the air)
• Slash Kick •
Assists
| Type | Partner Assist | Variable Counter | Variable Combination | |
| A | Projectile Type | (L) Ice Beam | (L) Ice Beam | Arctic Attack |
| B | Variety Type | (L) Ice Avalanche | (L) Ice Avalanche | Arctic Attack |
| Y | Balance Type | (L) Ice Beam | (L) Ice Avalanche | Arctic Attack |
• (L) next to the move stands for Light.
• (H) next to the move stands for Hard.

I'm surprised no one uses him online. He's very good if you know how to combo into Arctic Attack from close range.

Should've gave Iceman an airdash via iceslide like the cartoons/comics.. then he'd be even more fun to f around with.

Ice Man is great, definitely my favorite X-Man, and my favorite character to play as in MvC2. A great turtle character that can complement a lot of characters very well. Avalanche is a pretty bootleg assist if you ask me, and Arctic Attack does devastating damage at close range.
He's pretty much God when put up against characters with super armor moves too.
