Challenge Mode Walkthrough Notes

Completing Vega's Trials isn't too hard if you're really good at Links, as that's pretty much all they consist of.

The timing on Vega's first Hard Trial to Link from a Crouching Light Punch into Crouching Medium Punch is fairly strict, so you should practice this for a bit before attempting to beat this trial.

Also on the 4th Hard Trial, you can use Turbo, if you have it, to ease the timing of Linking from the Standing Light Kick into Crouching Medium Punch. Turbo seems to work most of the time in this situation.

Turbo also helps big time with the 5th Hard Trial. Use it for the Standing Light Kick 2x and Linking into Crouching Medium Punch.

Vega actually has some of the easiest Trials if you have Turbo, and even without it they're not too bad.

Going through the Claw's trials will unlock a few Icons and Titles related to him.

Normal: Trial 1 • Down-towards + Medium Kick.
• Down-towards + Hard Kick.
• All three punches (Back Flip).
• All three kicks (Short Back Flip).
• Jump, press Light Punch + Light Kick in the air when close (Air Throw).
Normal: Trial 2 • Rolling Crystal Flash (Rolling Claw Attack).
• Scarlet Terror (Flip Kick).
• Sky High Claw (Aerial Claw Attack).
• Flying Barcelona Attack & Izuna Drop (Wall Dive and Throw).
• Claw Throw.
• Mask Throw.
• Flying Barcelona Special & Rolling Izuna Drop (Super Wall Dive and Throw).
• Bloody High Claw (Ultra Wall Jump and Slice).
Normal: Trial 3 • Crouching Medium Kick, Cancel into Hard Kick Scarlet Terror.
• Crouching Medium Punch, Cancel into EX-Flying Barcelona Attack, juggle with Izuna Drop. (Note, you need to execute your Flying Barcelona Attack by pressing up-forward so you hit the other fighter while you're going up.)
• Standing Hard Kick, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack.
• Crouching Light Punch, Cancel into Light Punch Rolling Crystal Flash.
Normal: Trial 4 • Jumping Hard Kick, Standing Medium Kick, Cancel into Light Punch Rolling Crystal Flash.
• Light Kick Scarlet Terror, juggle with EX-Scarlet Terror.
• Focus Attack, Dash, down-towards + Hard Kick, Cancel into EX-Flying Barcelona Attack, juggle with Izuna Drop.
Normal: Trial 5 • Standing Hard Punch, Link into Crouching Medium Punch.
• Crouching Medium Kick, Link into Crouching Medium Punch.
Hard: Trial 1 • Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Light Punch, Link into Crouching Medium Punch, Cancel into Light Punch Rolling Crystal Flash, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack.
Hard: Trial 2 • Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Light Punch, Link into Crouching Light Kick, Light Kick Scarlet Terror, juggle with EX-Scarlet Terror. Hard: Trial 3 • Jumping Hard Kick, Crouching Medium Kick, Link into Crouching Light Punch, Cancel into EX-Flying Barcelona Attack & Izuna Drop.
Hard: Trial 4 • Jumping Hard Punch, Standing Hard Punch, Link into Standing Light Kick, Link into Crouching Medium Punch. Hard: Trial 5 • Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Medium Kick, Link into Standing Light Kick 2x, Link into Crouching Medium Punch.

i cannot finish the last hard trial and its driving me mad! please help i dont know an easier way, i connect with 3 hits fourth either misses or gets blocked

Practice landing the jumping hard punch/crouching medium kick/standing light kick 2x. Then practice the standing light kick 2x link to crouching medium punch. Then put them together :)

dude hard trial 1 is really pissing me off.... any suggestions for actually landing the crouching light punch to crouching medium punch??

ahhhhhhhh!! i really need help on hard trial 5 for vega... I just can't get the timing down. if anyone has any suggestions please be sure to post a comment and let me know how i can solve this problem.

yea hard trial 5 is kinda weird.. i did 4 and 5 of Vega for my brother because he wasnt able to manage the timing.. and the timing there is just bull****.. xD anyway, if u keep in mind to hit the next move button right after the first landed. or better, after the first attacks animation is going to end, make sure to press the next button/attack/special/whatever right before the attack animation ends. if Vega gets to his "normal" stance again dan surely will block.. except he is juggled. And dont pratice to much 2x standing lp into crouching mp, i dont see were the problem is, did it first time, wasnt even expecting it.. just tried the first part over and over till i got the rhythm (helps A LOT) and when i saw i got the two light punches to hit i was all about "oh f*** crouch mp !!!" and it also hits.. xD pretty lucky i guess.. have to do all Trials again some time.. :/ hope my english isnt that bad, but im trying to be "understandable" :>

This may seem like a dumb question, but how in the blue hell does anyone link the charged attacks without turbo? I'm saving up for a proper joystick with turbo, but I'm baffled trying to understand if Capcom actually intended for people to be able to pull these moves off without turbo? I've tested it, and on my regular controller, I have to wait for a very slow count of 3 till I can execute any charged attack. Guess I'll just have to save up.

yeah 5 was a pain... but i did it in 5mins surprised... i noticed that u shouldnt mash the buttons to get the hits, but try to time every hit (or get a turbo and have fun?)

what i do is mash button. lol. only for particular trials though.its not that i have no real skill, its just that i find it easier to mash buttons. i play ken, but when i cant beat ppl with him, i usually choose vega. hes really confusing to play against, so i think that helps

Once you've got 4 down, 5 isn't bad. Techniques similar, I did it without turbo, but it's not to say I could do either consistently. Anyway, once you have some basic timings down, things get easier. What I'll say here worked for me though I'm not sure if this is like the 'official' way to do it. For #4 I left the jumping hp till the last poss moment, this makes the standing hp real easy. The standing lk is pretty quick after that, and then for the crouching mp I did a priority link with lp (i.e. tap mp then tap lp 1 /100th second later (or maybe a bit more but you get the idea), and it will register as mp twice in case the first was too early). I will also say that when I did this one, I was holding forward the WHOLE time, for some reason I couldn't link the lk until I did this, but that may be to do with the timing of the jumping hp instead, so don't take my word on that being essential or anything.

For trial 5, again hit deep with the jump in, again hold forward the whole time (like, just in case), the crouching mk comes quick after the jump-in, the standing lk link is kinda relaxed, similar deal for the second lk (don't mash, no need), then p-link into the crouching mp as with #4.

Another tip for both is to take things easy. Chill out. If you spend ages failing, stop trying to do the combo and do some other random moves instead, to take your mind off it. Then come back to it and your instincts can take over again. My brain knows the timings, but other things can get in the way, esp if you keep failing. When I did #4 I was hardly aware of it, I just focused a little on doing the standing lk quick after the standing hp, and then the crouching mp literally came automatically. SUCCESS! Weird.

I love the Street Fighter series, but the trial mode in this game and some of the ways to land the ultras will make you give up playing Street Fighter.

Capcom has to remember that not everyone has had 20 plus years playing the game in an arcade in Japan. Some people are brand new to the whole genre and it would help if the game'e producers didn't assume everyone has Diago's skill with a joystick.

I really need help on vegas hard trial numer 2, i can basically do all the moves slowly and connect the first 3 hits but the c.lk never connect with scarlet terror, f*ck this sh*t...

cancel the c.lk into light scarlet terror.

Trust me, this is actually much easier to do than linking the 2nd and 3rd hits.

You just need to go in to practice mode and practice canceling a light kick into light kick scarlet terror. Trust me, in the grand scheme of things this is much easier to do than his normal trial four where you have to charge the light RCF to use right after standing medium kick.

I've done all ryu trials (hard normal), all zangief (hard normal) all blanka (hard normal) except hard 5.. have 2more hard on akuma and 3 more on sagat..
all other chars is complete in normal and I've made 1 hard trial level 1 with each char..
except for vega.. I can't either do his freaking RCF cancel..
that character is a complete joke..
