Challenge Mode Walkthrough Notes

In terms of overall Trial difficulty Seth's challenges are about middle of the pack. If you play Seth actively at a high level, these probably won't phase you much.

This is not to say his aren't fairly difficult. They take some good timing and execution skills to get through, as some of the timing is a bit funky in places.

But with some practice and patience these can be completed by advanced players.

Beating all of Seth's Trials will unlock a few Titles and Icons related to him.

Normal: Trial 1 • Standing Hard Punch.
• Crouching Hard Punch.
• Head Stomp (Down + Medium Kick 3x).
• Dive Kick (Down + Hard Kick while jumping forward).
Normal: Trial 2 • Sonic Boom.
• Shoryuken 3x to juggle for three hits.
• Spin Kicks (Hyakuretsukyaku).
• Tandem Engine (Vacuum).
• Spinning Piledriver (360).
• Yoga Teleport.
• Tandem Storm (Super).
• Tandem Stream (Ultra).
Normal: Trial 3 • Standing Medium Punch, Cancel into Sonic Boom.
• Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Shoryuken 3x to juggle for three hits.
• Standing Medium Kick, Cancel into Spin Kicks.
• Standing Hard Kick, Cancel into Tandem Storm (Super).
• Crouching Hard Punch, juggle with Tandem Stream (Ultra).
Normal: Trial 4 • Jumping Hard Kick, Standing Medium Punch, Cancel into Sonic Boom, Cancel into Tandem Storm (Super).
• Jumping Hard Kick, Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Shoryuken 3x to juggle for three hits.
• Tandem Engine (Vacuum), Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Shoryuken 3x to juggle for three hits.
• Dive Kick, Crouching Medium Punch, Cancel into Light Kick Spin Kicks.
(Do the Dive Kick early in your jump to land this combo).
• Focus Attack, Dash, Crouching Hard Punch, jump and Head Stomp 3x.
Normal: Trial 5 • Standing Light Punch, Link into Standing Hard Punch.
• Crouching Light Punch, Link into Crouching Medium Punch.
Hard: Trial 1 • Crouching Light Kick, Crouching Light Punch 2x, Link into Crouching Medium Punch, Cancel into Light Kick Spin Kicks.
Hard: Trial 2 • Shoryuken, juggle with Head Stomp (Down + Medium Kick 3x), juggle with Dive Kick. Hard: Trial 3 • Crouching Hard Punch, Cancel into EX-Tandem Engine (Vacuum), Crouching Hard Punch, Cancel into EX-Tandem Engine (Vacuum), Crouching Hard Punch, juggle with Tandem Stream (Ultra).
Hard: Trial 4 • Crouching Light Kick, Link into Crouching Light Punch, Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into EX-Sonic Boom, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack, Tandem Stream (Ultra). Hard: Trial 5 • Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Sonic Boom, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack, Dash, Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Sonic Boom, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack, Dash, Crouching Hard Punch, juggle with Tandem Stream (Ultra).

on the last trial of normal 3 seth does tandem storm even though I press LB

You've got to wait for both hits tom then catch him in the air with the ultra not cancel the c. Hp. Hope this helps James.

how do you do the last one on the 4rth trial? like after the hard punch how do you jump on time to do the 3x kicks

i stuck at hard trial 4, the problem is to link the standing hard punch, i need 5-20 attempts to link it right but then i have again probs to link ex focus attack... i am trying it since 4-5 hours, any tips?

finally did it by share luck, this trials are not easy but thats how u learn lol.CAPCOM RULES AND THIS WEBSITE RULEs.

I finally finished my trials after a few days of trying (4 days of failure)

I found trial 4 the hardest to execute because you had to get the cr.LK xx cr.LP > st.HP perfect. I would p-link the standing HP with MP so that I could get it out faster then I would press it again to get the ex sonic boom to come out. from there I had to get lucky with the lvl 2 FA (more on the FA cancel below).

Trial 5 was the hardest to learn for me, once I learned exactly what to do, how and when to do it, all it came down to was getting the rhythm down.

I negative edged the sonic boom with HP so that I only had to press the HP button once per sonic boom(twice for the whole combo). Basically you press (and HOLD) HP then QUICKLY input the sonic boom motion, then RELEASE. If you inputted the motion correctly you will get the boom canceled after the st.HP.

I suggest going into training mode and practicing the negative edge boom. Show inputs on screen then make sure you first hit st.HP then input the sonic boom motion (down, down forward, forward) then release the punch button.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR:

If you see that you inputted the st.HP and motion inputs correctly then you are letting go of HP before finishing the sonic boom input. If you are getting a cr.HP(Crouching) at the beginning of the combo then you aren't hitting HP before doing the sonic boom motion.

After that all you need to worry about is canceling the sonic boom with an FA (easy once you learn when to press and release the FA) and dashing before releasing the FA to get the st. HP and cr.HP in.

FA CANCEL tips:

When you cancel the st. HP into the sonic boom you need to press the FA AS SOON AS you see the flash from the boom coming out of Seth's hands. It's very quick but you can build a rhythm for it easy. You release the FA as soon as he flashes white. You have to be quick, it has to be exactly when he flashes white, not before or after. You also have to buffer/input the dash forward before releasing but not too soon after you activate the FA or it will FADC instead of holding the FA.

oh btw Trial 4 took me about 6 hrs combined to finish and trial 5 took me 3 hrs.
