Challenge Mode Walkthrough Notes

Sakura's Challenges can be pretty... challenging. You have to be able to pull out Shoryuken's with some fairly tight timing after Links.

Most players will find this a bit challenging and they'll need several tries to get through her trials unless their execution is outstanding.

But these trials show you some of the capabilities Sakura has for combos, which is nice, if and when you can pull them off.

Beating all of the Trials will unlock a few Icons and Titles that either have Sakura's face in them, or have something to do with her.

Normal: Trial 1 • Jumping Hard Punch.
• Crouching Hard Punch.
• Light Punch + Light Kick when close (Throw).
• Back + Light Punch and Light Kick when close (Throw).
• Towards + Medium Kick.
Normal: Trial 2 • Fireball.
• Shoryuken (Dragon Punch).
• Arcing Hurricane Kick.
• Aerial Arcing Hurricane Kick.
• Jump Smash (Sakura Otoshi).
• Karu Ichiban (Super).
• Haru Ranman (Ultra).
Normal: Trial 3 • (Close) Standing Medium Punch, Cancel into Fireball.
• (Close) Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Shoryuken.
• Crouching Medium Kick, Cancel into Light Kick Arcing Hurricane Kick.
• Standing Hard Kick, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack.
Normal: Trial 4 • (Opponent in corner) Jumping Hard Punch, Standing Medium Punch, Cancel into Hard Punch Fireball, Cancel into EX-Focus Attack.
• Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Medium Kick, Cancel into EX-Arcing Hurricane Kick, Jump Smash (Sakura Otoshi).
• Focus Attack, Dash, Crouching Medium Kick, Cancel into EX-Arcing Hurricane Kick, juggle with Haru Ranman (Ultra).
• Jumping Hard Kick, Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Shoryuken, Cancel into Karu Ichiban (Super).
Normal: Trial 5 • Standing Light Punch, Link into Crouching Medium Punch.
• Crouching Light Punch, Link into Standing Hard Punch.
Hard: Trial 1 • Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Light Kick, Link into Crouching Light Punch, Link into Crouching Medium Punch, Cancel into Light Punch Shoryuken, juggle with another Light Punch Shoryuken.
Hard: Trial 2 • Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Light Kick 2x, Cancel into EX-Shoryuken. Hard: Trial 3 • Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Light Punch, Link into Crouching Hard Punch, Cancel into Light Kick Arcing Hurricane Kick, Link into Standing Light Kick, Cancel into Shoryuken.
Hard: Trial 4 • Crouching Light Kick, Link into Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Light Kick Arcing Hurricane Kick, Link into Crouching Light Kick, Cancel into EX-Arcing Hurricane Kick, juggle with Jump Smash (Sakura Otoshi). Hard: Trial 5 • Standing Hard Punch, Cancel into Light Kick Arcing Hurricane Kick, Link into Crouching Hard Punch, Cancel into EX-Arcing Hurricane Kick, juggle with Haru Ranman (Ultra).

Darn it all, I can't combo in her Super after an EX Shouoken. Any pointers? (Trying to beat all the Trial Combos)

Can anyone explain cancelling for me? especially with Sakura's Crouching Medium Kick.

I need to complete a trial where the moves are:
Focus attack
Crouch Medium Kick
EX Shunpukyaku
Haru Ranman

I could swear I'm doing it perfect but Dan blocks the Shunpukyaku everytime so I'm obviously not.

Im doing Sakura Trails hard level 3. Its...

Jump - HP
Crouch - LP
Crouch - HP
Light Shunpukyaku
LK
Heavy Shouoken

I got this down till the light kick after the light Shunpukyaku. The light kick never seems to connect. How do you do it?

I need serious help getting her mid-punch to fireball (3rd trail) combo to hit. I can cancel the standing punch into a shoryuken every time, and I can cancel the crouching punch into the fireball every time but I cannot for the life of me cancel the standing punch into the fireball. I don't know what the problem is but I'm having it with every combo that starts with 'down' on the d-pad (except when the previous attack was a crouch)- everything else is fine. I've been doing it too fast and she doesn't do anything after the punch, or too slow and its not a cancel. Any ideas?

Oh and for the guy who was asking about a good wake-up attack, I like her ex-shoryuken if your opponent keeps their distance a little bit. People rarely expect to need to block a wake-up from that distance, I find.

Hard Trail 2 is insane, I just can't get that last cancel out! If I just try one c.l kick and cancel into EX Shououken, I can do it fairly consistently, but doing the combo altogether just seems impossible. Even in the video, the player had to try 7-8 times before getting in...

What a roadblock =/

I feel your pain. I just pulled off Sakura's Hard Trial 3 yesterday and honestly linking some of her moves is nothing short of pure luck. If they don't properly link, Dan will block it which is nothing short frustrating, but keep trying. Putting all punch buttons on bumper/trigger helps tremendously since she has no punch supers/ ultras. Try to start doing the motion as she is kicking and press the button as soon as the animation is finished. It's fast and tough to spot but you'll get it eventually.

Sakura's hard trial #2 is impossible for me. You just cant do a "light kick" then a EX-Shoryuken right after. Stupid Dan always blocks >:(

Having troub;e with here Normal trial #4 can anyone help with timing? Also, Im having trouble beating Guile...everyone does the same thing...a slow sonic boom (walking right behind it), and either doing a low hard kick or jumping for an air throw...any strategy against these?

Can't seem to do it.
Other ones are so much easier, the timing for #2 is ridiculous.

Really?

The last combo for Normal Trial 4 is usually not that simple to many characters. To be honest, Sakura's last combo is actually one of the easier ones in the game.

First, land that jumping HK then link into standing HP. Cancel standing HP into (HP) Shouoken, then CANCEL Shouoken into Haru Ichiban. That's right! You CANNOT link ANY attacks after her (HP) Shouoken; you can only cancel it with her Focus or with her Super.

Cancelling from Shouoken into Super is a little tricky, but not terribly difficult. As soon as you put the input for the Shouoken, IMMEDIATELY execute the commands for the HARU ICHIBAN right after! This will cause Sakura to cancel into her super at the third or fourth hit of the Shouoken! Since she'll technically be in the middle of her Shouoken when she cancels, there's NO WAY that Dan can block!

trial 2 seem ridiculous!!!! even after you get the 2 medium kicks in it seems as if she cant do the shouoken!!! all she does is light punch him. how if im pressing heavy punch?? makes no sense how light comes from heavy, so stupid!!!
somebody help me

The key to hard trial 2 is the two medium kicks need to be unlinked by doing it a touch slow in order to link the EX- shoryuken at the end. When you do the two medium kicks too fast the two kicks link together and that will make it imposible to cancel for the ex-shoryuken. Took me about a week to get it so be patient. I love seeing Sakura kick ass out of the other characters!

Hard trial 2 is really easy if you add c.P and c.MP to the combo. The EX shoryuken combos easily off the c.MP.

• Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Light Kick 2x, Crouching light punch, Crouching medium punch Cancel into EX-Shoryuken.

Ok...the very first hard trial is hurting my pride. i cant seem to get the mid punch to connect and if it does ever connect i cant get the mid shouoken to connect...Help please!

With all characters where you have crouching moves that link into moves with the "dragon punch" motion you basically have to crouch with DF. Then you blindingly fast have to just hit D DF F + Punch that should made the move come out. Same with Hard trial number 2 you gotta crouch with DF for the LKS and as soon as it hits you just D DF F + P. But really really stupidly fast. I am not the best at SF by any means but improving. Just try to relax and speed it up.
