Another one of those techniques that has an odd name, but it's effective none the less. A Kara Throw is when you cancel the animation of a move to throw.

Why you ask? Because it gives your throw extra range. Here's how to do it.

With Q hold back + medium punch and he'll do an uppercut, but before the move actually hits press light punch + light kick to throw. What happens is Q will step forward because of the uppercut animation, and you'll cancel this move before it hits to throw the other person, effectively increasing your throw range.

Other characters like Akuma, Alex, Chun Li, Elena, Remy and Ryu have effective Kara Throws, but one could argue the rest of the characters suck at it and aren't worth the effort to try to learn.

Regardless of effectiveness, here is how to do each character's Kara Throw.

Akuma: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Alex: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Chun-Li: Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Dudley: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Elena: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Hugo: Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Ken: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Makoto: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Necro: Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Oro: Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Q: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Remy: Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Ryu: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Sean: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Twelve: Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Urien: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Yang: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

Yun: Joystick Joystick Joystick, Joystick Joystick Joystick

easiest kara throw for ken is Hk, lp+lk. If you do this version, Ken will actually gain a small forward leap

For Chun-li you actually want to use both of her kara's. MK version is good from long distance, but closer up mk becomes that straight up kick and doesn't move her forward. Use her close RH for kara at those distances. It's REALLY good too. You can pretty much throw anyone who gets close enough to get close RH'd. You'll know that you did it right because you'll hear the yell she normally does when she hits close RH.

Any idea how much time between the attack and the throw? How many frames into the move before it cant cancel into the throw?

Kara throws are pretty much glitches in the game. Why is it that not everyone's Kara is useful? Seems a bit unfair. Characters with the best kara throwas are alrady top teir. Pretty lame.

Why? Because they are glitches, glitches are not fair, uh?

There is ONE FRAME between the move and the throw. This is the part of the glitch. You must input the move and then the throw one frame later. Its VERY FAST. The 2nd frame, it can't throw.

You can cancel on the first frame because they wanted it to be harder to miss a throw's input. One frame error between the input and you still could do the throw. That was an unexpected result. At least, I think it was unexpected.

this feels impossible to do on a controller...

It's impossible to do unless you eat, live, breathe, and sh!t Street Fighter. In other words, you must have no life.

I recently mastered kara throws with my Xbox 360 controller ;O But I can't seem to kara Yang's "Vault-over-the-head"-throw... Is that even possible?

I knew a girl named Kara once, but I never got to throw her.

Not funny, bill.

At Macfisk,
As far as I know, it's impossible to kara Yun/Yang's command throw.
However, you can divekick right in front and do the command throw and it will extend the range of the throw for some odd reason.

Is so hard to master this trick, so I hope there is a life to waist.

This is something you would rather pull off on a stick.
